RISE is a fantastic first EP by Tokyo artist Joey Sachi. The EP demonstrates the ways of combining clean production and true emotion. She is three years in Japan and draws upon the neon vitality of Tokyo. She did all the music recording in her own studio. She has collaborated with producer AKINAT whom she met in Sydney. The two collaborated effectively. They created a sound that is somewhere between the atmospheric electronic sound of Flume and catchy pop of Kenya Grace.
Sachi adheres to the notion that it is not that deep in circuits. This assisted her in utilizing the 90s RnB sounds and blend the various styles to come up with a song that seems nostalgic and new at the same time. In back to square one Sachi discusses the suffering of beginning again following a break up. It examines the experience of hitting the bottom and discovering the ability to climb up.
The Tristan Hoogland mix is clear and strong in all parts. RISE is not a song, but it demonstrates the way of Sachi to creative freedom. She prevented herself from overthinking, thus creating a very cohesive body of work. Joey Sachi is an artist to be followed.
